Join us and enjoy a day of fiber and fun including vendors, classes, displays and more! There is social space available, bring your wheels or other projects and enjoy socializing while working on your favorite fiber art! Feel free to download the 2016 Spin In Flyer to share in your community.

 

We will have classes again this year! We will have classes in the morning and afternoon including informational and hands-on learning.

You may pre-order a Panera box lunch with your pre-registration. The box lunch option will only be available through pre-registration, we will not offer lunches at the door. You are still welcome to bring your own lunch to enjoy on site and several restaurant options are available with 15 minutes of the school. See the pre-registration form for details.

Charity knitting project:

Participants are invited to help us machine knit blankets for charity! We’ll have your knitting machines set up and yarn will already be provided; all you need is your hands to push a carriage and a few minutes of your time to help us with this project!

Mystery Bag of Yarn/Fiber!

Bring along some de-stashed yarn or fiber (at least 100g/4oz) and turn it in at the designated table. At lunchtime, come pick out a new bag of mystery fiber to take home and love!

Fiber and fiber tools offered for sale by members of the guild. This special sale table is available only to full experience guests. All proceeds benefit the BHFG.

Bring your finished objects for display in this completion where everyone attending gets to vote. All full experience guests have a handful of beans to use to cast votes for their favorite items in several different categories. Who will win Best in Show? Ribbons will be awarded. Please download Viewers Choice Form 2016 and bring the day of Spin In with your projects to share! Please remember: DO NOT send the form ahead and bring it to the Spin In along with the item. Also, if you want to display your item in a specific way, you must provide the display (dress form or whatever)

Beginning Spinning – Elizabeth Wild

Learn how to use a spinning wheel. Hands on instruction with various wheel available to use.

Finding Your Fit – Gwyn Krause

Learn how to best take measurements so you can size your projects correctly.  In this hands-on class you will work with a partner in a directed exercise to take all the necessary measurements to be able to select the right size pattern for yourself and others.

We will discuss proper measuring of yourself and others, the function of ease in patterns, and how to apply that information when choosing a pattern size.

Wear a form-fitting top for the best results.  Tape measures will be provided in class.

Steeking – Lee Breeggemann

Cut your knitting! We’ll cover when, how and why you might choose to steek (or cut) your knitting, with hands on examples. No supplies needed

Weave-It: Small loom – Jennie Hawkey, Hopewell Weaving

Looms come in all sizes and shapes. Weave-It Looms were first sold in the 1930’s and 40’s. They are a wonderful little loom! In this class you will make a small square on a Weave-It loom.

Hardanger Embroidery – Carla Greby (Two session class) — $8.00 materials fee to be paid to the instructor on day of class.

The morning session of this class is open to all and will cover the history and a demo of this form of embroidery. The afternoon will be hands on, with a limited number of participants

Arm Knitting – Mary Ellen Wood

Arm knitting is just like regular knitting – but your arms are the needles. Come try out this fun technique.

 

Directions:

12207 N Old Galena Road, Mossville, IL. This address should work for most map or GPS tools. It is important to use OLD Galena road in the address.

Approaching from the South (Peoria, East Peoria, I-74) use IL-6 to IL-29 North. From IL-29 North, turn left onto Old Galena Road. At the traffic circle, take the first road to the right (staying on Old Galena Road) and proceed to the traffic light. Turn left at the light into the school parking lot.

Approaching from the North through Chillicothe on IL-29 South.   On IL-29 South, continue to Cedar Hills Drive. Turn right at light onto Cedar Hills Drive and follow road approx. 1.25 miles to Old Galena Road. Turn left at the light onto Old Galena Road and drive approx.. 1 mile to the school. Turn right at the traffic light, into the school parking lot.
